Bring Your Operating System & Hardware Up-to-Date
June 30, 2008 was the end of retail sales for the Windows XP operating system. Microsoft no longer supports this operating system. If you are running Windows NT, this OS pre-dates XP.
If you are utilizing FuelsManager
Oil & Gas v6.0 or below, your PC
hardware may be 4 years old. If
your operators are using v4.3, then
is could be over 6 years old. The
industry standard “shelf-life” for a
PC is 3-5 years. In the last 5 years,
most PC’s Processors, HD and RAM
have quadrupled. The standard
monitor has progressed from a 19”
CTR displaying 800x600 pixels to
wide screen LCDs running 1400
x 900 pixels with the option for
multiple monitor support, while
5GB writable DVDs have replaced
0.7Gb CD-ROMs as a preferred
method of backups for personal
computers.
What does this mean to you?
- These improvements mean faster processing for your operators, increased reliability for your operations and easier management of your bulk liquid assets.
- If you are in the process of assessing your migration to new PCs, but are concerned about how Windows Vista will impact your Business, don’t be. If you wish to continue using Windows XP you are eligible to downgrade (install) Windows XP on a new PC if you hold a current XP license.
- Alternatively, embrace Windows Vista. FuelsManager Oil & Gas v7.4 has been thoroughly tested on and is approved for use on Windows Vista. Also, Windows Vista is ready to go to work today, supporting nearly all of the leading business applications you may use. Plus, Windows Vista offers faster searching, better security, easier management and uses less power than Windows XP.
